Why I built Business Book
Built for shopkeepers who still use a paper register
Most small shops in Pakistan run on a paper khata: a register of who took goods on credit and who paid back. Pages get lost, totals get added wrong, and it is hard to remind a customer politely. Business Book moves that register onto your phone, keeps every total correct, and lets you send the customer their balance on WhatsApp.
One app for the whole counter
Besides the khata, Business Book is a simple shop till. Ring up a sale, take cash or put it on the customer's khata, and stock goes down by itself. The cash book shows what came in and went out of the till each day, and reports show sales, profit and what is still owed to you.
Your data stays yours
Everything is saved on your phone first, so the app is fast and works with no internet. Backup goes to your own Google Drive, not to our server. There is no analytics or crash reporting, and the only ad is one small Google banner on the More tab, which never sees your business data.

What is Business Book?
Business Book is a free Android app that works as a digital khata and shop till for small businesses. It records credit (udhaar) given and payments received for each customer, sales, products, stock, cash and expenses, and shows reports. It is made by Junaid Ali Ansari, a developer from Pakistan.
Is Business Book free to use?
Yes. Business Book is free to download and use. It is supported by one small Google AdMob banner on the More tab, and ads never receive your khata data. The app itself has no analytics or crash reporting, and your data is never sold.
Does Business Book work without internet?
Yes. Every entry is saved on your phone first, so you can add customers, entries, sales and expenses with no internet connection. Internet is only needed to sign in and to back up to Google Drive, and backup runs automatically when you reconnect.
Where is my khata data stored, and is it safe?
Your khata is stored in a private database on your phone that other apps cannot read. If you turn on backup, a copy is saved in a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive, which only you can open. The developer has no server that receives your data. You can also lock the app with a PIN.
How do I move my khata to a new phone?
Install Business Book on the new phone and sign in with the same account. Your Google Drive backup is restored automatically. You can also export a backup file from Backup & restore and import it on the new phone.
Can I send payment reminders to customers on WhatsApp?
Yes. Open a customer and send a payment reminder or their full statement through WhatsApp or SMS. The message is sent by WhatsApp or your SMS app; Business Book only prepares it.
Which languages does Business Book support?
Business Book is available in English and Urdu. You can also choose your currency symbol and a light or dark theme.
How do I delete my account and data?
Clear the app's data or uninstall it to remove the data on your phone, and delete the backup in Google Drive under Settings, Manage apps, Business Book, Delete hidden app data. To delete your sign-in account, email junaidaliansaree@gmail.com from the address you signed up with; it is deleted within 30 days.
